Smashed Potatoes

 


Deliciously crispy!


what you need:

  • Any amount potatoes you want - suggestion: 8 yukon gold potatoes but you can also use sweet potatoes or even carrots
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Any seasoning you like -> garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, turmeric, etc 
  • You can also bake onions slices together


what to do:

  1. Cook the potatoes in boiling water with salt for 20 to 30 minutes.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  3. Preheat oven to 200 C / 400 F 
  4. Drain the potatoes and place them on the baking sheet.
  5. Make an X on each potato using a knife.
  6. Use the bottom of a cup or mug to smash the potatoes until they are mostly flat. Use a spatula to help if the bottom of the cup gets stuck on the potato.
  7. Sprinkle salt and pepper and the seasonings of your liking.
  8. Drizzle/brush with olive oil.
  9. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until they are crispy.

Serve with your favorite dip or as a side dish.

Notes:

- This recipe will work with smashed potatoes only, without oil or anything else.

- You can sprinkle shredded Parmesan.

- You can also sprinkle herbs and seasonings of your liking.


Another delicious option:

Cook a few garlic cloves with the potatoes.

Drain the garlic, mash them and add them to a bit of olive oil or butter. Add salt, pepper and fresh chopped parsley / rosemary. 

Brush this mix on the potatoes and then place them in the oven. YUM!
