Very versatile; a healthy substitute for jams. Not very good looking though.
what you need:
- 500 gr / 1 lb canned drained chestnut
- 2 cups milk (any kind)
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tsp vanilla
- pinch of salt
what to do:
Add chestnuts, milk, maple syrup, vanilla and salt to a saucepan and let the mixture simmer for 20 minutes stirring occasionally.
Drain and reserve the liquid.
Puree the chestnut in a food processor and add the liquid slowly until desired consistency.
How to use it:
Use it as a spread, as a filling for deserts like cakes, tarts, cookies and chocolate truffles.
Add it to a cheese board instead or along jams.
Add to oatmeal, yogurt and ice cream.
Add to pancakes or over toast.
Add a tbsp of cocoa to make it chocolate flavoured.
