Turmeric Milk


Turmeric milk is has potential health benefits and supposedly is effective for a good night sleep.

You should not have more than 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric per day.

Pregnant and nursing women should not consume turmeric.

Fresh turmeric is better than powder.

Traditional 'Turmeric Milk' has only 3 ingredients: milk, turmeric and black pepper.


Regular Turmeric Milk

- 250 ml full cream milk

- 1/2 teaspoon organic turmeric

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Put everything in a saucepan and bring it to a boil. 

Let it simmer for about one minute.

Turn off the heat and let it cool.

Don't drink it hot neither cold but lukewarm. 


Vegan Turmeric Milk

- 100 ml water

- 150 ml vegan milk (almond, soy, etc)

- 1/2 teaspoon organic turmeric

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

- 1/4 teaspoon coconut oil OR 1/2 teaspoon peanut butter. (fatty foods help turmeric be absorbed by the body)

Put the water, turmeric, pepper, saffron and coconut oil OR peanut butter in a saucepan. 

Let it boil then simmer for about a minute.

Turn off the heat, add the milk and mix well. Drink it warm, not hot neither cold.

Once you add the milk the temperature should be OK to drink the Turmeric Milk


Optional additions:


- 5 strands of saffron

- 1/8 teaspoons Cinnamon

- 1/8 teaspoons Nutmeg

- 1/8 teaspoons ginger

- 1/8 teaspoons cardamon

- vanilla

- your favourite sweetener maple syrup, agave, etc.

- honey but do not let it boil, just add it when the milk is warm, not hot.

- one clove that you remove after the milk boiled and simmered.
