This recipe brings out the natural sweetness of the cabbage and apples with a hint of tanginess of the apple cider vinegar.
what you need:
- 2 apples diced
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 red onion finely sliced
- 1 small red cabbage cored and finely sliced
- 3/4 cups orange juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 2 cloves
What to do:
In a small saucepan, cook apples and honey in a bit of water until they are very soft, then smash them to become like apple sauce.
In a different saucepan sauté the onions until translucent.
Add cabbage, orange juice, salt, apple cider, cloves and apples.
Mix well, let it boil and cook for about 30 minutes, mixing every once in a while to make sure nothing sticks to the bottom of pan.
Remove cloves before serving.
OR
You can just sauté onion and garlic, then add the red cabbage, sauté some more and finally simmer for about 15 min or until the cabbage is cooked.
