Fried tofu can be eaten as a side, mixed with rice and veggies in a bowl, or in salads.
what you need:
- Extra firm or firm tofu
- olive oil
- turmeric powder
- ginger powder
- garlic powder
- soy sauce
- pepper of choice (black, cayenne, espelete, etc)
- optional: curry and cumin
what to do
Rinse and dry the tofu with paper towel.
Cut it in to small squares or rectangles that make it easy to turn in a frying pan.
Heat enough oil to lightly cover the bottom of the pan.
Add the tofu.
Sprinkle the turmeric, ginger, garlic powder, pepper and any other spice you are using.
Fry the tofu for about half a minute and turn the pieces.
Again sprinkle the spices on this side.
Fry until the under side is browned.
Turn the pieces and then brown the other side.
Add soy sauce to your taste, remembering that some are very salty.
Shake the pan to spread the soy sauce. Turn the pieces and shake again.
Allow the soy sauce to penetrate the tofu and coat all pieces equally.
